GraftPage was designed and created by Derek Newton, MAI – commercial real estate appraiser and a designated member of the Appraisal Institute – for use in his own practice. In comprising appraisal reports reference documents to support assertions made within the body of the report are required components of an appraisal addendum. Source documents might include all manner of legal contracts, leases, broker listing packages, title reports, assessor information, and may be in various file formats sometimes comprised of hundreds of pages.

The process to include those reference files within a working Microsoft Word document involved multiple cumbersome steps. Reference documents were saved or printed to PDF and then converted to image files for importing into the working appraisal document. Only one file would be processed at a time because multiple documents often wouldn’t collate properly when inserted back into the Microsoft Word document. Moreover, the images left text illegible, and massive folders of page images would be compiled which have to be deleted manually.

GraftPage automates this entire workflow. You can now process multiple Microsoft Word or PDF documents to be handled simultaneously.

• Reference documents can be reordered, and you have the option to insert the images into a new document or an open document, or just save the image files to a folder of your choosing if you wish.
• File cleanup is automated, meaning every time you close the program all temporary image files are deleted, or there’s a manual one-click button to handle that if you wish to do it while the program is open.
• To manage file size, image file type and image quality is adjustable.
• Finally, a feature that we’re especially proud of is the cropping function. Manual cropping give you the ability to select how much of the margin to crop, and auto cropping dynamically detects margins sizes and crops page images based on recognition of text or image content.
